The cost of renewal for seniors will remain at $32 and there will be no additional cost for a road test. The new rules are to take effect on April 21, and officials say the renewal session will take approximately 90 minutes, or less than half the time of the current program. ![]() The screening exercises are simple, non-computerized tasks designed to help identify drivers who may need further assessment, such as a road test or medical review. Instead, the renewal program will include a vision test, a driver record review, an in-class group education session, and two screening exercises. TORONTO - Beginning in April, Ontario drivers aged 80 and over will no longer have to complete a written knowledge test.
